What Is the Fastest Draining Artificial Turf?
We just saved you hours of online research!
Below we’ve listed the fastest draining turfs on the market. We break down the importance of drainage, and which fast draining products are best suited to different lifestyles.
Why is drainage important?
#1 It Protects Your Property
Having a yard with good drainage protects your home from mud and muck!
Our turf is made with fast draining backings, which we recommend installing over class II road base. That way it won’t become oversaturated and flood during the wet season.
Natural grass is planted in dirt, which turns to mud in the wet season — transforming your yard into Shrek’s swamp. Artificial turf blades are held together by water permeable backings. So instead of having to worry about a soupy mix of mud and grime coating your kids shoes and mucking up your all white home, you can kick back and enjoy the Turf Life.
#2 It Reduces Runoff
By switching to drought-friendly landscaping, you can reduce the amount of water that flows off your property. And the water you do use gets funneled into the soil. This is not only helpful to the environment, it also protects you from potential fines. Here’s how it works.
Turf lawns use substantially less water than natural grass, and it isn’t planted in loose top soil. With turf, you may want to run your hose here and there to wash it off, but you won’t have to constantly run your sprinklers.
Because of artificial turf’s quick draining properties, that little bit of water quickly drains through water permeable backings and is then filtered through class ii road base into the soil below. It doesn’t pool at the surface and then spill over onto the street and sidewalk.
What Artificial Turf Drains Fastest?
The Synthetic Turf Council’s standard for water permeability is a rate of ten inches of water per hour.
Our Hydro series blows this standard out of the water! This product line uses OptimumFlow backings for the best possible drainage. OptimumFlow backings quickly whisks away rain and liquid pet waste to create a more comfortable living environment. They drain liquids up to 10 times faster than a standard backing!

7 Artificial Grass Blades Every Homeowner Should Know About
WHAT IS BLADE SHAPE?
Blade shape describes the basic outline of individual artificial grass blades. It affects the feel, performance, appearance, and longevity of your turf!
WHY IS BLADE SHAPE IMPORTANT?
Artificial grass blade shapes say a lot about your lawn! Different blade shapes pair best with certain lifestyles. To find the best blade shape for your project, start by defining your objectives:
Do you need grass that is pet-friendly? Is your yard used for sports and recreation? Are you interested in entertaining, or do you want artificial grass that will increase curb appeal? These are all essential questions, and will help you find what blade shape is best for you.
WHAT IS THE BEST ARTIFICIAL GRASS BLADE SHAPE FOR ME?
Here are seven essential blade shapes every homeowner should know about!
We break down the defining technology for each. Continue reading to learn what blade shape works best for your project!
C blades are built to withstand the pressure of heavy foot traffic. They offer greater resiliency than most blade shapes, creating a tougher, longer lasting product. Because this design reflects more light than other blade shapes, it’s best suited for backyard use.
V blades‘ unique shape keeps them standing tall in the toughest conditions! The singular, hard angle fold down the center of the blade creates a stiff spine, which prevents the blade from folding and matting under heavy foot traffic.
W/ Wave blades disperse heat to keep turf lawns up to 15 degrees cooler on hot days. Their folded design reflects more light than other blade shapes, creating a more comfortable, natural looking lawn.
Ωmega blades’ cutting edge design strikes the ideal balance between softness and durability. It performs well in heavy foot traffic, while closely mirroring the look and feel of natural grass.
Diamond blades‘ silky smooth texture gently hugs feet, while its natural green aesthetic accurately recreates the look of living grass. Diamond blades are recommended for areas with low to medium foot traffic.
Flat blades are ideal for low traffic areas! They offer a realistic look and soft-to-the-touch feel, but are not as durable as other blade shapes. Flat blades work nicely when mixed with W and Ω shaped blades to create a balanced blend of blade designs.
Z blades accordion design features two hard folds which increase resistance and disperse heat. They almost function like a hybrid between V and W blades.
BLADE MIXES
A mixed approach to blade shape will create a more balanced lawn! For example, the Hydro Duo uses a V and Z blade mix to create a durable lawn with less shine.
Pro Natural 90 mixes W, Ω, and flat blades to offer a plush lawn that stays cool, looks natural, and will last for years to come. Sturdy W blades compliment realistic, less durable flat blades, while Ω blades round out this lawn by striking a nice balance between strength and realism.

What Infill Pairs Best With My Lifestyle?
WHAT IS INFILL?
Infill is the gritty material which is brushed into artificial turf. Infill can be made from a variety of materials including silica sand, volcanic ash, rubber crumb, and more!
DO I NEED TO ADD INFILL TO ARTIFICIAL GRASS
Yes! Infill keeps your artificial grass standing straight. It offers a more natural look that better mirrors the appearance of living grass. Without infill, artificial grass will become flattened and matted — a bad look for such a big investment!
Depending on the product you use, infill can also keep your lawn cooler in the summer heat and prevent it from smelling by trapping and locking pet odors. Some infills even feature antimicrobial technology to prevent the growth of bacteria and mildew.
WHICH INFILL PAIRS BEST WITH MY LIFESTYLE?
Finding the best turf infill for you!
Zeofill’s negatively charged molecular structure prevents the ammonium in pet urine from forming into a foul smelling gas. It’s made from organic materials, and features antimicrobial properties that prevent the growth of harmful molds and bacteria. Better yet, ZeoFill will keep your lawn up to nineteen cooler than lawns with silica sand infills!
Wonderfill uses a Zinc Omadine™ coating to prevent the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew. Its unique shape makes it less abrasive than other infills.
Envirofill uses silicone dioxide to keep artificial lawns cool on hot summer days. It also features a highly-rounded quartz core that resists compaction, and is infused with Microban® antimicrobial protection, to prevent the growth of bacteria. This product is backed by a 16 year warranty!
Camofill is made with a specially sourced blend of multiple colors to give your lawn a pristine, natural look. Camofill uses Zinc Omadine™ to prevent the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew.
Silica sand offers a pleasing aesthetic for yards with minimal foot traffic. It provides basic support, keeping blades stiff and upright, but lacks antimicrobial technology. For pets, kids, and heavy use, we recommend using a product with antimicrobial technology.
HOW DO YOU FLUFF UP ARTIFICIAL GRASS?
You can easily fluff up your turf lawn using infill and a drop spreader or broom!
Adding the correct amount of infill will directly impact the appearance, performance, and life span of your lawn. So make sure to double check the manufacturer’s instructions on how much infill to use!
Use a drop spreader to evenly disperse the proper amount of infill. Once the infill is in place, use a power or other stiff bristles broom to brush the turf. This will stand the blades up straight and give your new lawn the appearance of freshly mowed grass. Lastly, rinse the grass to get rid of all remaining dust.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU NEED TO ADD INFILL TO ARTIFICIAL GRASS?
This can vary from product to product, but we recommend every eighteen months.
Why Cycle and Soak Doesn’t Work!
What is cycle and soak ?
Cycle and soak is the Southern Nevada Water Authority’s recommended method of landscape irrigation. It involves running your sprinklers for shorter intervals several times a day. This method conserves water and prevents run off by providing soil ample time to soak up water between cycles.
Why doesn’t cycle and soak work?
Cycle and soak irrigation is a short term fix for a long term problem. It doesn’t really address the issue of growing droughts and increasing water restrictions. It simply passes the buck further down the line.
The future outlook for natural grass lawns is bleak at best. Ambitious new regulations aim to curb water use by limiting applications for natural grass. Last year local authorities passed legislation making traditional lawns outright illegal for nonfunctional use by 2027. This new law makes it so that sooner or later, you’ll have to rip up your old grass anyway. So you might as well do it now to make use of the SNWA’s Water Smart Landscapes program while you still can! This program will pay you up to $3 per square foot of grass to replace your existing lawn with drought-friendly landscaping. This rebate is available to residential properties, businesses, and HOAs.
Single family homes, golf courses, and parks have been spared from removal for the time being, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be able to survive the desert heat much longer. If you think cycle and soak will save you from reseeding in the years to come, you may be sorely mistaken.
“Our turf also features white backings to reduce ambient heat, keeping your lawn cool and comfortable in the summer heat.”
Droughts are only getting worse. And in the Vegas Valley there isn’t much water to spare! Lake Mead, which supplies Las Vegas’s 2.5 million citizens 90% of their water dropped to its lowest point in 2021. This has led to new water restrictions which severely limit how often Vegas residents can water their lawns and how much water they can use. Noncompliance will be met with steep fines ranging from from $80 for the first violation to $5,120 for the fifth violation!
Avoid jumping through hoops to save your lawn by switching to artificial turf! Turf from Artificial Grass Liquidators offers the same look and feel of traditional grass lawns without the water waste.
You can rest assured the desert sun won’t kill our grass! AGL lawns are made with powerful Durablade technology, which prevents fading and ripping overtime. Our turf also features white backings to reduce ambient heat, keeping your lawn cool and comfortable in the summer heat.
PRO TIP: By using Zeofill in combination with w-shaped blades, you can reduce heat by over 20 degrees fahrenheit!
